Huawei Ranks 70 on Interbrand’s 2017 Best Global Brands Report

Continued investment in R&D, steady growth and breakthrough consumer products supports climb in rankings for third year in a row

The world's leading brand consulting firm Interbrand, has announced its 2017 Best Global Brands Report and confirmed Huawei’s move to number 70 –two spots up from its ranking in 2016. Brand valued at approximately USD $6.676 billion; Huawei has grown by 14 percent over the past year.



This is the third consecutive year where Huawei has climbed Interbrand’s list, following its debut as the first mainland Chinese brand to be recognized as a Best Global Brand in 2014.


Founded in 1974, Interbrand is the world's largest integrated brand consultancy firm with a customer base encompassing approximately two-thirds of Fortune 100 companies. Its annual ‘Best Brands Ranking’ is highly regarded around the world and is commonly used as an indicator of global brand value. 
Technology brands continue to dominate Interbrand’s Best Global Brands Reports this year, holding the greatest proportion of the Top 100 rankings. According to Interbrand, Huawei is accelerating global digital transformations and building a better-connected world by creating enhanced networks. This has contributed to rapid growth of 14 percent in brand value and further highlights the strength of the world-wide company.



Huawei’s brand value continues to increase, largely due to steady performance growth and its breakthrough into the consumer electronics market. In the first half of 2017, Huawei’s smartphone shipments rose to 70.01 million, delivering a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent – outperforming the industry average. Huawei’s premium flagship HUAWEI P and HUAWEI Mate smartphone series has become increasingly popular around the world, strengthening its influence in high-end markets.
According to industry analysts IDC, shipment volumes of Huawei smartphones made it the largest manufacturer in China and third largest worldwide in Q2 2017. Huawei’s smartphone global market share has also grown to 11.3 percent, up from 9.8 percent over the same period last year – placing the company within 1 percent of Apple.
In addition to its range of smartphones, Huawei also introduced a trio of new MateBook PC products, combining stylish and portable design with powerful performance. Since its launch, the new HUAWEI MateBook range has received significant praise and recognition from media and consumers alike.

Huawei continues to be recognised by numerous esteemed institutions and included in the world's most respected brand rankings lists. In the latest Fortune 500, Huawei was placed in the Top 100 list for the first time, leaping from 129 to 83. Moreover, the company was named as the only Chinese brand in Forbes’ most valuable global brands list in 2017.

HUAWEI’s fastest chipset Kirin970 will leave competitors in hot water


HUAWEI, the global technology leader has already earned its reputation for being the leader in the world of smartphone technology, and has now revealed the first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) processor - Kirin 970. This flagship AI processor will be featured in HUAWEI’s revolutionary device – Mate 10 and is expected to put the competitors in hot waters.

The unique selling point of the Kirin 970 is the Neural-network Processing Unit (NPU) embedded in it. The NPU will focus on artificial intelligence tasks linked to the cloud and on the device for real-time calculations from end to end. Compared to Central Processing Unit (CPU), the NPU's performance is 25x more, whereas its efficiency is 50x.

The Kirin 970's development team introduced a new innovative HiAI mobile computing architecture with a dedicated Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), which delivers an AI performance that far surpasses any CPU/GPU build.

Pfizer signs MoU with Aman Health Care Services


Pfizer Pakistan Limited and Aman Health Care Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly conduct a disease awareness on Overactive Bladder, via Aman’s telehealth services, through qualified healthcare professionals (HCPs) over the phone. The signing ceremony was held at the Aman Foundation head office in Karachi, attended by Pfizer Pakistan and Aman Health Care Teams.
One of the symptoms of OAB is feeling the urgency to urinate and using the toilet 8 or more times in the day or 1 or more times in the night. This partnership enables patients/general public to call at 9123 number to seek awareness on Overactive Bladder Disease. The partnership will also assist patients who wish to remain anonymous and are uncomfortable discussing their issue with HCP’s face to face.

Siemens wins major power deal in Pakistan

   



Attended by the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the ceremony saw the signing between China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and government-owned Punjab Thermal Power (Pvt) Ltd (PTPL), an independent power producer. Siemens will supply the power island to CMEC, the project’s EPC contractor.

“We are very proud to have the chance to contribute with sustainable and reliable power generation for the future development of Punjab and for the Pakistani people.
Our highly-efficient technology will be instrumental to meeting their power needs within the timeframe targeted by the local government,” said Jean-Claude Nasr, Senior Executive Vice President of Siemens Power Generation Division, Middle East and North Africa.
Running on liquefied natural gas, the Punjab Power Plant Jhang will be built as a combined cycle power plant (CCPP). Siemens will supply a power island solution, comprising of two SGT5-8000H Gas Turbines, an SST-5000 Steam Turbine, two heat recovery steam generators, control systems and related auxiliaries. Siemens will also be responsible for engineering, project management and associated site services. The plant is scheduled to supply power to the grid in simple cycle operation by December 2018, and in combined cycle mode by November 2019.

Siemens’ SGT-8000H is the company’s largest and most advanced gas turbine in commercial operation. It is among the most efficient and powerful gas turbines in commercial operation, with low operating and lifecycle costs. Siemens sold more than 80 H-Class gas turbines worldwide, with 47 currently in commercial operation. The fleet of Siemens H-class gas turbines achieved about 500,000 fired hours.

Huawei brings together Chinese Entrepreneurs and Top Regional Companies at “The Future of Innovation”panel discussion


Huawei Consumer Business Group hosted “The Future of Innovation” event in Dubai, UAE on 20th September 2017. The event highlighted the key innovations Huawei is driving in the consumer smartphone industry, both globally and regionally, as well as Huawei’s brand ambition to become a global iconic technology brand.The event also saw Huawei bring together innovative minds from China and top regional companies to participate in an open panel discussion focusing on the theme of innovation.ePanda, the Chinese start-up facilitating connections between China and the Middle East, was a key cooperation partner for the event.

The engaging panel discussion was attended by thought leaders from some of the region’s top innovative companies, including Souq.com,Etisalat, Sony Music Entertainment Middle East, Lamsa, Digital Media Services (DMS), and The SmartStart Fund. Together with leading Chinese entrepreneurs, the group explored opportunities for innovative Chinese companies to expand their reach into the growing Middle East market. The panel covered two vital topics. The first topic highlighted the changing perception of Chinese products and services in the region, and the eagerness for growing the innovation sector in the Middle East through partnerships with Chinese entities. The second topic focused on digital entertainment, bringing to light the need for innovation in content and the importance of localization of content for the region.

In line with that, localization of Chinese innovations is significant,regardless of the size of an enterprise. We are now seeing that emerging enterprises are adapting to globalization and this is something small businesses have to pay close attention to succeed.”

The panel discussion closed with Huawei highlighting the brand’s support for the Middle East region’s commitment to innovation growth.
