Bid Farewell to Bad Battery Life with Huawei’s New Device

In a typical day, our smartphone battery will fail us exactly when we need it most. It can happen right before an important client call or when using google maps to navigate the ever-changing roads of the Pakistan. Regardless of when it occurs, we’ve all been in a situation when our device switches off instantly due to poor battery life. It’s irritating and inconvenient, and it seems smartphone manufacturers have only offered portable chargers as a solution. That is, until Huawei stepped in.

Last month in Munich, Germany, Mr. Richard Yu CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group made a grand entrance on-stage in front of 500 media and VIP guests from around the world.

The Mate series is no stranger to long-lasting battery life and low power consumption. In fact, these elements have been a part of the series’ DNA. The Mate 8 was the first smartphone to run the Kirin 950 chipset, with CPU boosting power up 100 percent, GPU performance up 125 percent. Power efficiency improved by up to 70 percentwhen compared to the Kirin 925 featured on the Mate 7 (Ascend). The series put performance and power at the core of the smartphone’s key functions and the Mate 9 is no exception.

The Mate 9 combines a 4000 mAh high-density battery with the more energy efficient Kirin 960 and a new generation of Huawei’s SuperCharge technology. These features work collectively to extend battery life by 20 per cent for gaming and by 40 percent for phone calls. Huawei’s latest flagship device also supports 20 hours of continuous video playback, 30 hours of 3G calling, 20 hours of 4G browsing and up to 105 hours of music playback.

To achieve this level of power in record time, the Mate 9’s SuperCharge technology supports 5A fast charge, a 50 percent improvement over the Mate 8. A full day’s charge can be achieved in 20 minutes and 10 minutes of charge provides enough power to watch two full movies.

Endurance is vital for smartphone users and so too is safety. The Mate 9 ships with industry safety standard-settings including a Super Safe 5-gate protection which offers real-time voltage, current and temperature monitoring. This security net helps eliminate safety hazards and safeguards battery life. These measures also guarantee a cooler-charging temperature even when the phone is being used for videos or graphically intensive games.

In the 21st century, a smartphone is one’s companion for their professional and personal endeavors. Without long lasting power, consumers may turn away from some of the most reputable brands. To alleviate this concern, Huawei has made the Mate 9 available select retail outlets across Pakistan starting at PKR 69,899 in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold and Mocha Brown. To the great delight of customers across the country Huawei is also gearing up to reveal this coveted device in an exclusive new color. For more information you can check out Huawei Pakistan’s Facebook and Instagram page and stay tuned for updates.

Huawei Changing the Game with its Revolutionary Graphene-Assisted Batteries

Huawei recently announced a major breakthrough in its research into Li-ion batteries, introducing the world's first, long-lifespan graphene-assisted Li-ion battery, able to withstand high temperatures. Announced by Watt Laboratory, an organization under Huawei's Central Research Institute, these batteries are built-in the Huawei Honor 6X and Mate 9. The new graphene-assisted, heat-resistant technologies not only allows the Li-ion batteries to last twice the lifespan of a regular Li-ion battery, but also to remain functional in a 60°C environment, a temperature 10°C higher than the existing limit.

Equipped with a 3340 mAh high-density graphene battery in the Honor 6X, and a 4000 mAh grapheme battery in the Mate 9, these smart phones are a step ahead with an increased battery capacity of 11% and 20% respectively, delivering 2.2 – 2.5 days of usage of normal usage and 1.5 – 1.8 day  of heavy usage on a full charge. With endless possibilities, one can watch up to 11.5 – 13.5 hours of video, listen to 70 – 80 hours of music, and embrace their inner gaming-geek up to 8 – 10 hours – in just one charge. With the fast 5V/2A charging technology, one can juice up their phone in no time, whereby the 16nm intelligent power-saving technology largely reduces the power consumption, truly providing ‘double the experience’.

Huawei's research results will reshape the storage systems of communications base stations. In high-temperature regions such as Pakistan, the graphene-assisted high-temperature Li-ion batteries can have working life-spans longer than four years. These batteries ensure a high mileage for electric vehicles per charge in high temperatures. They can also guarantee the safe operation of drones, which often generate a significant amount of heat. This revolutionary technology has been getting a tremendous response in the Pakistani market due to its characteristics, satisfying the primary demand of the consumers.

Dr. Yangxing Li, Chief Scientist at Watt Laboratory, highlighted three technologies contributed to the breakthrough in the graphene-assisted high-temperature Li-ion battery. First, a special additive in the electrolytes can remove trace water and prevent the electrolytes from decomposition in high temperatures. Second, modified large-crystal NMC materials are used for the cathode, improving the thermal stability of the cathode powder. Third, graphene allows for more efficient cooling of the Li-ion battery.

Dr. Li said, "We performed charging and discharging tests in a high-temperature environment, which unveiled that when working parameters are the same, the graphene-assisted high-temperature Li-ion battery is 5°C cooler than ordinary Li-ion batteries. Over 70% of the graphene-assisted battery's capacity is left after it is recharged 2,000 times at a temperature of 60°C. Less than 13% of its capacity is lost after being kept in a 60°C environment for 200 days."

Huawei starts 2017 by breaking a Guinness World Record

Beating the record by a milestone, Huawei used Mate 9 to capture the most selfies in three minutes

Huawei Mate 9 got the news of another victoryafter harvesting 8 awards in CES. Yesterday, Mate 9 broke the Guinness World Record for the most selfies taken with different people in three minutes at the Palace Downtown Dubai. 160 high definition selfies were captured in 180 seconds with the iconic Burj Khalifa as a backdrop, which means nearly one click in one second. This record threw the previous one far away. Only Huawei Mate 9 can reach this speed.

The record breaking attempt took place at The Palace Hotel in Downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As per the Guinness World Record guidelines, the image was a selfie taken by an individual using a smartphone or digital camera and was captured in exactly 180 seconds. To achieve this feat, Huawei naturally selected its all-new flagship device,Huawei Mate 9 and put the device to the ultimate speed test.

To capture the ultimate selfie for the world record attempt, the team utilized the 8-megapixel front camera on Mate 9 which is also equipped with user-friendly auto-focus and smile capture. Samsung Electronics Ushers In a New Era in Home Entertainment with QLED TV Ahead of CES 2017

The QLED TV is world’s first television to reproduce 100 percent color volume thanks to new and advanced Quantum Dot technology

Samsung Electronics today announced its new QLED TV series - Q9, Q8, and Q7 - during the company’s 2017 product unveiling, held at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center in Las Vegas.

“2017 will mark a major paradigm shift in the visual display industry, ushering in the era of QLED,” said HyunSuk Kim, President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the advent of QLED TV, we provide the most true-to-life picture on screen. We have been successful in solving for past inconsistencies in the viewing experience and consumer pain points while redefining the fundamental value of TV.”

Samsung’s Best Picture Quality - Ever

With picture quality remaining a top priority for consumers around the world - especially as the average TV continues to increase in size, Samsung’s 2017 QLED TVs represent yet another leap forward.

The new lineup offers dramatically improved color performance, displaying DCI-P3 color space accurately and – in another world first for Samsung, QLED TVs are capable of reproducing 100 percent color volume. This means they can express all colors at any level of brightness – with even the subtlest differences visible at the QLED’s peak luminance - between 1,500 and 2,000 nits.

Color volume presents color that can be expressed at different levels of brightness. For example, a leaf can be perceived as different colors from yellowish green to turquoise, depending on brightness of the light. Samsung QLED TV display can capture even subtle differences in color pertaining to brightness. This kind of color detail cannot be easily depicted in the traditional 2D color space models.

This breakthrough is a result of Samsung’s adoption of a new metal Quantum Dot material – making it possible for the TV to express a significantly improved range of color with much greater detail compared to conventional TVs.

The new Quantum dots allow Samsung QLED TV to express deep blacks and rich detail regardless of how light or dark the scene is, or whether the content is being played in a brightly lit or darkened room. Furthermore, Samsung QLED TV can generate peak luminance as high as 1,500 to 2,000 nits, with no impact on its ability to deliver accurate and impeccable color. With its metal alloy Quantum Dot technology, brightness no longer has to be compromised to boost color performance, which is also maintained regardless of how wide the viewing angle may be.

Committed to Solving Consumer Pain Points

Samsung also used today’s product unveiling to highlight new design features which resolve some of the most significant TV viewer pain points.

“With the QLED TV, we’ve solved problems that everyone —and every home—has experienced; cable clutter, thick wall mounts and a slew of devices sitting right under the TV,” said Dave Das, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics Marketing for Samsung Electronics America. “With our 2017 lineup, the focus remains where it should be—the content on the screen —not everything surrounding it.”

The improvements to design and usability in the QLED TV series include a single, transparent ‘Invisible Connection’ cable, through which all of the peripheral devices can be gathered and connected to the TV. This is in addition to the No-gap wall-mount, which makes it quick and easy to affix the TV flush against the wall. Or, for those who prefer not to mount the TV, Samsung is offering two new stands designed to elevate and showcase the QLED TVs as beautiful home accessories all by themselves. Consumers can choose either the ‘Studio Stand’, which resembles an easel with a painting, or the sleek Gravity Stand’, which when attached to the TV, resembles a contemporary sculpture.

Samsung’s Smartest TV ever

In 2017, Samsung is focused on the continued evolution of its much lauded Smart TV offering, giving people the simple, unified user experience they want for all their entertainment content - wherever and whenever they want it. For example, with the Samsung Smart Remote, consumers can control most connected TV devices from a single source, with one device.

This year, the ‘Smart Hub’ interface has been extended to smartphones through Samsung’s new and improved ‘Smart View’ app, which now provides a comprehensive overview of all available content on the app’s home screen. Thus, consumers can use their mobile device to select and start their favorite live TV programs and video-on-demand services - on their TV, through the ‘Smart View’ mobile app. Consumers can also choose to receive alerts on their mobile devices about their favorite content, regarding for example, show times and availability.

Samsung also introduced two new Smart TV services, including ‘Sports’, which shows a customizable summary of a customer’s favorite sports team and its recent and upcoming games, and ‘Music’, which can identify songs as they are being played live on a TV show, among many other features.

More than 200 journalists from around the world participated in Samsung’s product unveiling event to experience Samsung QLED TV’s picture quality and usability first-hand. Consumers attending CES 2017 will be able to view all these exciting innovations, and much more, on the show floor from the 5th of January onwards.
